Two Institutions. One Vision.
Founded in 1974, the Democritus University of Thrace is one of Greece’s leading research universities. The Laboratory of Biological Anthropology within the School of Humanities has built an internationally recognised track record in biological anthropology, palaeogenetics, and bioarchaeology — forming the scientific backbone of this programme.
Established in 1833 and ranked among the world’s top 100 universities, the University of Zurich hosts the Institute of Evolutionary Medicine (IEM) — one of Europe’s pioneering centres in this field since 2014. The IEM brings laboratory infrastructure, palaeogenetic facilities, and over two decades of focused research to this collaboration.
