What is Evolutionary Medicine?
Evolutionary Medicine applies modern evolutionary theory to understand health and disease. While conventional medicine asks how biological mechanisms cause illness, evolutionary medicine asks why evolution shaped those mechanisms in ways that leave us susceptible.
From cardiovascular disease and obesity to autoimmune disorders, depression, and cancer — many of the most pressing health challenges of our time are rooted in a mismatch between our evolutionary past and our modern lifestyle. This programme trains you to understand that mismatch, and to use it.
