Biography

Elissavet Gkaniatsou is a Bioarchaeologist. She holds a BA in History and Archaeology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, an MSc in Archaeometry from the University of the Aegean, and a PhD in Biological Anthropology from the Democritus University of Thrace.
Her research focuses on the reconstruction of breastfeeding and weaning practices, as well as dietary patterns, through stable isotope analysis and the application of Machine Learning methods. She has extensive experience in funded research projects, including the “CityLife” project (ERC Consolidator Grant), as well as other national research programs funded by H.F.R.I. and “Research–Create–Innovate.”
She has published in leading international scientific journals, including Cell, PLOS ONE, and Archaeological Anthropological Sciences, and has received significant academic distinctions.
