Biography

Verena Schuenemann currently works at the University of Basel as a professor for Archaeological Sciences. Her research focuses on ancient pathogen genomics, and her mission is to uncover the long-term evolution of pathogens as well as their interactions with their hosts and the environment. Verena Schuenemann started her scientific career at the University of Tübingen, where she obtained her two PhDs, one in Biochemistry and another in Archaeological Sciences. She then continued there as a postdoctoral researcher and group leader before working at the University of Zurich and the University of Vienna as an assistant professor.
