Biography
Asterios Aidonis is a biological anthropologist specializing in bioarchaeology, paleodemography, geometric morphometrics, and digital approaches to the study of human skeletal remains. His research explores how health, disease, mortality, and living conditions shaped past populations, with particular emphasis on urbanization, human adaptation, and long-term population dynamics. He has extensive experience in archaeological excavations, museum projects, and interdisciplinary research programmes, having studied skeletal assemblages from diverse archaeological contexts and chronological periods across Greece. His work combines osteological analysis with quantitative methods and digital technologies to reconstruct the biological and social histories of past communities. His research interests include physiological stress and biological standards of living, trauma and trepanation, facial approximation, and the digital documentation and management of osteological collections.
